Inter have picked up eight wins from their last 10 matches across all competitions, and remain unbeaten across that period after the 1-1 draw against Napoli on Sunday night, but the Nerazzurri’s record against ‘top sides’ in Serie A so far this season has led to a warning from the Italian press about their push for the title this season.
Inter currently sit in fourth place in Serie A, one point off the league-leading Napoli after 11 matches. Simon Inzaghi’s side are one of four teams on 25 points along with Atalanta, Fiorentina and Lazio.
Inter issued Scudetto warning despite unbeaten record
The Nerazzurri ensured that they went 10 matches unbeaten across all competitions with Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Inter, but La Gazzetta dello Sport have labelled it a ‘wasted opportunity’ to go top of the Serie A table.
Monday’s report points to the 1-1 draw with Napoli and the 4-4 draw with Juventus, both of which were played at San Siro, suggesting that teams who want to win the league title have to be able to beat their closest rivals, especially at home.
There is, of course, still more than two thirds of the Serie A season left to play in 2024-25, and Inter will have to play all of the teams around them at least once more before the end of the campaign.
Serie A is currently as tight as it has ever been at this stage of a campaign, with six teams currently within two points of first place.
