It kicks off on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 17:30 CET (15:30 GMT) at the Etihad Stadium.

Vicario and Udogie’s Tottenham have had an unconvincing start to the season, collecting just 16 points in 11 Premier League outings. Manchester City have 23 points in 11 games but lost the last two league matches, so they’ll be looking to bounce back against Spurs.

The Italian Tottenham

Several ex-Serie A stars feature in the Tottenham squad. Among them are the 2024 January signing Radu Dragusin, plus Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur. Italy internationals Vicario and Udogie are regular starters in North London and will try to give their contribution against Pep Guardiola’s side to help Spurs climb the Premier League table.

Vicario is Italy’s second-choice keeper behind Gigio Donnarumma but recently started a Nations League game against Israel in Udine.

It was a particular match for the 28-year-old as Vicario is from the Veneto Region and used to watch Udinese matches at the stadium as a kid.

“Coming here wearing the Azzurri shirt where my childhood dream started is just indescribable. I am slowly starting to realise just what tomorrow evening will be for me and all those who know me here,” the former Empoli and Cagliari keeper said in October.

“I am proud of the journey my career has taken me on and being here representing Italy just reminds me of all the steps along the way.”

Vicario also spoke about his time at Tottenham where he’s been playing since the summer of 2023.

“It is a different experience for me, as I also had to learn another culture and style of football. It is all valuable experience that makes me a better athlete,” he argued.

Inter vs Juventus ‘the most important game of the year’ says Italy World Cup winner https://football-italia.net/inter-vs-juventus-the-most-important-game-of-the-year-says-italy-world-cup-winner/ Sun, 27 Oct 2024 13:33:27 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=843115

Italy legend Alessandro Altobelli a former striker for Inter and Juventus says the meeting between Nerazzurri and Bianconeri is the ‘most important game of the year’ and predicts Simone Inzaghi’s men will win.

Inter and Juventus meet at San Siro on Sunday evening with kick-off time at 18:00 CET (16:00 GMT).

The Bianconeri have just lost their first game this season, facing a 1-0 defeat to VfB Stuttgart in the Champions League. Inter, on the other hand, beat Young Boys and have one point more than the Bianconeri in the Serie A table.

Napoli are the table leaders in Italy’s top flight, but Inter and Juventus are still among the main Scudetto contenders this term and if you want to predict the next Italian champion you can check top casino payment options.

Altobelli, a 1982 Italy World Cup winner, scored seven goals in the derby d’Italia, all for Inter.

“You don’t have to think about tactics in these games, but just try to score every time you have the ball and try to not concede when you don’t have it,” the ex-striker told Gazzetta.

“These are the philosophies of these two teams and Inter-Juventus always is the most important game of the year.”

As a former Italian striker, Altobelli will keep a close eye on Inter and Juventus forwards.

“Lautaro and Thuram are in sync and they are protected by a strong midfield. They score and the others work hard. The most similar to me is Thuram,” he said.

“Dusan Vlahovic is bouncing back, but I also like Khephren Thuram and Kenan Yildiz. It will be a great game.”

Talking about strikers, will Lautaro Martinez win the Ballon d’Or?

“If he wins it, we are all happy because he’s done extraoardinary things. He’s won for club and country,” argued Altobelli.

“I think it’s hard anyway. It’s easier to win the Ballon d’Or if you play for Real Madrid. They’ll give it to Vinicius.”

A lot of focus has been put on the coaches as well. Inzaghi is in his fourth season at Inter, while Motta has was appointed by Juventus last summer.

“Simone has been doing so well since he was at Lazio. Thiago is emerging now, but you are nobody until you win,” warned Altobelli.

“Let’s see if he’ll do what people expect from him. It’s easy to finish third, Juventus would do it anyway. Thiago must leave his mark. As of today, Inzaghi is clearly better but he’s had more time.”

Regarding the score prediction for Sunday’s fixture, Altobelli has no doubts.

“Inter will win 3-1.”

Serie A legend insists Inter ‘robbed’ against Juventus in 1998 https://football-italia.net/serie-a-legend-insists-inter-robbed-against-juventus-in-1998/ Sun, 27 Oct 2024 12:41:11 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=843101

Serie A and Inter legend Ivan Zamorano insists the Nerazzurri were ‘robbed’ in 1998 during a key Serie A match against Juventus.

Bianconeri and Nerazzurri meet on Sunday evening at San Siro.

Former Chile international Zamorano often faced the Old Lady during his playing career and previewed the upcoming fixture during an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It’s one of the biggest games in the world,” he said.

“Perhaps the Spanish Clasico is more mediatic, but does anyone want to miss what happens at San Siro? Inter-Juventus simply is history.”

Inter and Juventus are among the favourites to win the Serie A title this season and just one point separates Nerazzurri and Bianconeri in the table, although Napoli are the current leaders. The Serie A title race will be wide open until the very end of the season and if you want to predict the next Scudetto winner, Betano welcome offer is a £10 bonus for a £10 bet.

“Inter have built a competitive team against everything and everyone, even in the Champions League,” said Zamorano.

“Perhaps they must fix some little problems they didn’t have last season, but they can play on par against everyone. Just think about how they played against Manchester City. They deserved to win, also in the latest meeting in Manchester.”

On the other hand, Juventus “have changed a lot,” said Zamorano.

“More than players, they’ve changed their identity, so they’ll need time. I like Vlahovic even if he is not as consistent as Inter strikers.”

Referee controversies have historically surrounded games between Inter and Juventus. The biggest dispute was in 1998 when the Nerazzurri appealed for a penalty kick for a potential Mark Iulian foul on Brazilian legend Ronaldo.

“How can I forget about that robbery?” said Zamorano.

“I will never forget [referee] Ceccarini and the Scudetto we deserved to win. However, I also remember a 3-0 victory Coppa Italia win in Turin in 1996-97.”

New Juventus coach Thiago Motta is also an Inter legend, having won the treble under José Mourinho in 2010.

“Many players, not only Thiago, have won at Inter and are appreciated. They have a special bond,” argued Zamorano.

“People don’t judge you for the trophies, but for the commitment. I am not saying that the others didn’t give their all, but I was a warrior and I was ready for anything for the Nerazzurri,” concluded the ex-Chile striker.

Zamorano spent five seasons at Inter, joining the Nerazzurri in 1996 from Real Madrid.

He scored 40 goals in 149 appearances with the Serie A giants, winning one UEFA Cup in 1997-98.

Ex-Italy coach sees Spalletti’s change and names Serie A title favourites https://football-italia.net/ex-italy-coach-sees-spallettis-change-and-names-serie-a-title-favourites/ Wed, 23 Oct 2024 11:33:52 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=842311

Former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli feels Inter and Napoli are ‘more prepared’ than other clubs to fight for the Serie A title and insists Azzurri boss Luciano Spalletti has changed his approach after the Euros.

Many clubs are expected to be involved in the Serie A title race this season, but ex-Fiorentina and Roma coach Prandelli believes that Napoli and Inter are the better-equipped teams to fight for the Scudetto in 2024-25.

The list of Adonio N.V. casinos provides platforms to gamble and predict the Serie A title winner this term. According to bookmakers, the Nerazzurri remain favourites for the Scudetto. Nevertheless, Antonio Conte’s Napoli are the current table leaders in Italy’s top flight after investing over €100m in new signings last summer.

“Being able to have an impact in the transfer market is a merit and a big quality,” Prandelli told TMW.

“Usually, a coach needs two or three months to leave his mark, but Napoli’s technical structure is similar to that of two years ago, so this is an advantage. You may need less time when you start from a solid base.”

Prandelli talks to Cassano, Thiago Motta and Balotelli during Euro 2012 (GETTY)

On the other hand, Juventus are having highs and lows under new coach Thiago Motta and just lost their first game this season.

“The team must become accustomed to a new playing style. Juventus are a team that always wants to dominate proceedings. They do one-two passes all over the pitch, which requires a bit more time,” noted Prandelli.

“Dusan Vlahovic is playing well for the team, and I find him in better shape than in the past. He must remain calm and follow the coach’s advice.

“Napoli and Inter are more prepared and structured than the others,” continued Prandelli.

“They have a higher ability to read games and more solutions from the bench. The others are trying to reach balance, but it takes time.”

Prandelli reached the 2012 Euro Final with Italy national team. That Azzurri squad included Mario Balotelli who seems close to joining Genoa as a free agent.

“I’d be happy because if he accepts this challenge, it means he’s prepared,” said Prandelli.

“I think he can still do something important. We all hope so, including Gila, who I love. I send him a big hug.”

Italy reacted to a Euro 2024 elimination with solid performances in the Nations League. They are unbeaten in the last four games with victories over France and Israel (twice) and a draw against Belgium.

“Spalletti is much more serene,” admitted Prandelli.

“He is always determined, but he’s transmitting his values differently. Perhaps the lads have understood that they’ve never been alone and that the coach will always defend them, so we hope they continue improving.”

Calafiori vs Chiesa: How to buy last-minute tickets for Arsenal-Liverpool https://football-italia.net/how-buy-last-minute-tickets-arsenal-liverpool/ Mon, 21 Oct 2024 14:26:46 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=841966

Riccardo Calafiori’s Arsenal meet Federico Chiesa’s Liverpool in the next Premier League game: here’s how to buy last-minute tickets for the Emirates Stadium clash.

BUY TICKETS FOR ARSENAL VS LIVERPOOL

It kicks off on Sunday, October 27 at 17:30 CET (15:30 GMT).

Calafiori’s Arsenal lost their first Premier League game last week, losing 2-0 away at Bournemouth. Liverpool made the most of it, beating Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea and moving four points clear of the Gunners at the top of the Premier League table.

Calafiori and Chiesa have had different fortunes in England so far.

The Italian defender quickly became a regular starter in North London and even scored his first Premier League goal in a crucial game against Arsenal’s direct rivals, Manchester City, in September.

On the other hand, Chiesa has only made three appearances across all competitions with Liverpool and hasn’t yet started a Premier League match.

The Italian winger was injured in Liverpool’s last two Premier League games, but he’s expected to be available for the match against Arsenal this coming weekend.

How to buy Arsenal vs Liverpool tickets

The Gunners have made tickets available via a ballot system, exclusively for Arsenal members, but the fixture is technically sold out.

Arsenal explain on their website that “Members will have a designated window to enter the ballot. You can choose to register individually or as a group of up to four members if all supporters meet the necessary requirements. You can enter at any stage during the registration window, and your odds of success will remain the same.”

Another way to get tickets for the Arsenal-Liverpool game is through LiveFootballTickets. The platform still has nearly 1,000 tickets available for the Emirates Stadium clash. Prices range from €353 to €378 per ticket. The service is not only reliable and safe but also offers a 150% money-back guarantee, which can be used to purchase tickets for another event.

The Italian derby

Calafiori and Chiesa were part of the Azzurri squad that was eliminated by Switzerland in the EURO 2024 Round of 16. After the tournament, both players moved to the Premier League, although under different circumstances.

Calafiori was one of the most convincing performers during the Euros, despite Italy’s poor results, while Chiesa struggled to have an impact during the summer tournament and was even benched in the last group stage game against Croatia.

Calafiori was suspended for the Round of 16 clash against Switzerland, while Chiesa started in a depressing match in Berlin.

They’ve now started a new chapter of their careers in England and are expected to meet at the Emirates Stadium this coming Sunday. So, if you are in London, make sure you don’t miss this little Italian derby.

How to get to Emirates Stadium

Arsenal, Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington are the closest tube stations to the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal is the nearest, circa three minutes walking from the ground. Finsbury Park is wheelchair accessible and is likely the least congested route to the stadium for wheelchair access. Highbury & Islington is also wheelchair accessible.

The closest bus stops to the Emirates Stadium are located on Holloway Road, Nag’s Head, Seven Sisters Road, Blackstock Road and Highbury Corner.

Key Midfielders Powering Inter’s Push for Glory In 2024-25 Season https://football-italia.net/key-inter-midfielders-push-for-glory-serie-a/ Wed, 09 Oct 2024 09:28:09 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=840127

Inter’s 2024-25 season kicked off in the second half of August, and the team has made a strong start. With four wins, two draws and one defeat, the defending champions are just two points below table leaders Napoli.

Simone Inzaghi’s midfielders surely played a key role in the team’s convincing results so far this season, which include a 0-0 Champions League draw away at Manchester City.

With this strong start, betting odds have shifted in Inter’s favour for the Scudetto. Fans and analysts are closely watching how their midfield dominance, led by Barella, Çalhanoğlu, and Frattesi, impacts match outcomes. These performances strengthen Inter’s title chances and make them a reliable option for those following football betting markets.

Nicolò Barella: The Creative Engine

Nicolò Barella has been a key player for Inter since joining from Cagliari in 2020. Known for his versatility, Barella excels in both central and defensive midfield roles. His ability to break up opposition play and deliver precise forward passes makes him integral to Inter’s success. Barella often sets the tempo of the game, contributing both defensively and offensively with his high work rate and sharp decision-making.

In the 2023-24 Serie A season, he registered two goals and six assists, proving his influence in attack, while his leadership helps guide younger teammates. Strategically, Barella is vital to Inter’s midfield dominance, capable of controlling possession and transitioning quickly from defence to attack. Barella is currently injured but has already found the net once this season.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu: The Set-Piece Specialist

Hakan Çalhanoğlu has been vital in pushing Inter forward this season. Since joining the club in 2021, his role as a deep-lying playmaker has allowed Inter to transition seamlessly from defence to attack.

Renowned for his set-piece expertise, Çalhanoğlu consistently delivers accurate long passes and dangerous free kicks, essential for creating goal-scoring opportunities. After taking on a more defensive role following Marcelo Brozović’s departure, he has been key in controlling the game while still contributing offensively.

With eight appearances across all competitions so far this season, Çalhanoğlu has already scored two goals, demonstrating his continued importance to Inter’s success. His composure under pressure allows Inter to dominate possession through high-pressing and keep their title ambitions alive.

Davide Frattesi: The Rising Star

Davide Frattesi, who joined Inter in July 2023, has quickly become one of the standout players in the team’s midfield this season. At 24 years old, Frattesi brings a blend of energy and skill to the pitch, complementing the experience of his teammates. His aggressive pressing and driving runs make him a constant threat, breaking through defensive lines and pushing Inter’s attack forward.

With one goal and one assist in nine games thus far this season, Frattesi’s influence continues to grow. His stamina, tactical awareness, and goal-scoring potential are becoming a vital element in Inter’s pursuit of success. As he continues to develop, his role in the squad is solidifying, proving he’s ready to compete at the highest level.

BUY ROMA VS INTER TICKETS

Defending Serie A champions Inter visit Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, October 20, right after the international break in October. It will kick off at 20:45 CET.

The Nerazzurri have 14 points in the opening seven games of the season, one below table leaders Napoli, while Roma had a slower start, collecting just 10 points following two wins, four draws and one defeat.

Where to buy Roma vs Inter tickets

Roma home games are often sold out, but with a recent managerial change that brought Ivan Juric to the Stadio Olimpico in place of club legend Daniele De Rossi, attendance for the Giallorossi games in the capital has decreased a little.

Tickets on Roma’s official website have been on sale since October 1, 2024, and four tickets per transition can be purchased through the club’s official channels. Fans who have subscribed to Roma’s ‘Plus’ program can buy tickets at a special price and in different sectors from their season ticket.

BUY ROMA VS INTER TICKETS

Roma also have packages available for upcoming games against Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League and Torino and Bologna in Serie A from €63.

Tickets for the Inter game are still available through LiveFootballTickets, the most reliable channel for getting entrances to European football games. The site offers a 150% money-back guarantee on all ticket purchases. This means a full refund plus the value back to spend on another event. Prices on LiveFootballTicket range from €125 to €212 in the central Tribuna Tevere stand.

Roma vs Inter team news

Roma collected a draw in the latest Serie A game at Monza but complained about a potential penalty kick in the final minutes. Their star Paulo Dybala missed the game due to a muscle injury, but he hasn’t joined his Argentina national team during the break, so Roma hope he’ll be available for selection against the Nerazzurri. Alexis Saelemaekers will miss the game due to an ankle injury and Stephan El Shaarawy is currently in doubt.

Inter won’t rely on the injured Tajon Buchanan, while Nicolò Barella must be assessed after suffering a muscle injury in a Serie A derby against Milan at the end of September.

Marcus Thuram is also not fully fit but remains available for France’s Nations League games during the October break.

Atalanta no longer Champions League underdogs https://football-italia.net/atalanta-no-longer-champions-league-underdogs/ Fri, 20 Sep 2024 12:52:38 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=833432

Atalanta’s Europa League win last season and their recent 0-0 draw against Arsenal prove that Gian Piero Gasperini’s side can no longer be seen as underdogs in the Champions League.

By now, every football fan in Europe and the world should know that Atalanta are not only a pretty team to watch. Not anymore.

Their Europa League victory last season allowed them to reach the pinnacle of European football, and not many can say that they were surprised by their 0-0 draw against Arsenal on Thursday in their first Champions League game in 2024-25

Last season, Atalanta lifted the Europa League trophy, giving Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen their only defeat in the campaign. La Dea will meet another Bundesliga side, VfB Stuttgart, in the Champions League this season, while German clubs will be looking for redemption in European competition. German football betting sites expect a rampant amount of betting in the next few months ahead of the 2025 Champions League and Europa League Finals.

Atalanta may not go this far, but La Dea has surely consolidated its status in Europe over the last 12 months. Under Gian Piero Gasperini, they had already impressed in the Europa League and the Champions League, going two minutes from a semifinal in 2020.

The game against Arsenal on Thursday proved that the Nerazzurri will still be one of the most exciting clubs to watch in Europe this term.

“We should be happy with the performance, which was of a high level to match our opponents,” Gasperini said after the Arsenal game.

Atalanta could have won the match, but David Raya denied Mateo Retegui from the spot and in the rebound in the second half.

“Seeing the rebound, it was an exceptional save, but also the header was too close to him,” said Gasperini.

“It’s a pity, as that was perhaps the best performance Retegui had since he’s been here and he worked so hard tonight, he deserved a goal.

“It was not easy to break down the Arsenal defence and we need to improve our play out from the back, but I am satisfied,” continued Gasperini.

“We learned something from this match and want to carry that forward. This is why we’ve managed to grow so much in recent years and been able to play at this level.”

Atalanta have earned six points in four Serie A games so far this season. On Monday, September 23, they’ll face Cesc Fabregas’ Como in a Lombardy derby in Bergamo. Their next Champions League match is away at Shakhtar Donetsk on October 2.

Serie A’s Top Scandinavian Stars for the 2024-25 Season https://football-italia.net/serie-as-top-scandinavian-stars-2024-25-season/ Mon, 16 Sep 2024 14:58:00 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=832556

The Italian top flight is widely recognised as one of the best leagues in the world, and its teams are able to attract top talent from other countries.

Scandinavian players have a history of success in Italy, with players like Michael and Brian Laudrup, Zlatan Ibrahimovich, and John Arne Riise all flying the flag for their respective nations.

Football fans around the world will be looking at the Serie A squads to try and determine which team looks strongest this season. Inter and Juventus are the bookmakers’ favourites at present, but sports betting expert Edgar C Blakeslee advises consumers to search around for the best odds, with some of the most competitive available in this list of Norwegian betting sites.

Looking at the comings and goings over the summer will help, but a bit of inside information from knowing the top Scandinavian stars currently plying their trade in Italy will also be handy.

Many of Sweden’s current crop of Serie A stars seem to have a bright future ahead including 21-year-old Roma full-back Samuel Dahl, 20-year-old Juventus defender Jonas Rouhi, and Empoli’s 22-year-old forward Emmanuel Ekong. A few more established Swedes include Jesper Karlsson, the 26-year-old attacking midfielder and winger who signed for Bologna in 2023 following a successful spell at AZ in the Netherlands.

Towering centre-back Isak Hien is another talented Swedish star who moved to Atalanta from Hellas Verona in January 2024, while Udinese added experienced Sweden international midfielder Jesper Karlström to their ranks.

It is also worth noting that a certain Maximilian Ibrahimovic plays for Milan, the same club that his father Zlatan starred for. However, at only 17 it will be a few years before he starts making his presence felt.

Serie A’s Top Scandinavian Stars for the 2024-25 Season

Denmark also has a strong presence in Serie A with Lazio forward Gustav Isaksen, 6ft 6″ centre-back Thomas Thiesson Kristensen at Udinese, and Bologna’s Jens Odgaard. Odgaard spent a bit of time at Inter in his younger years but never featured in the first team. A move to Sassuolo saw him loaned out before he moved to AZ in 2022. He returned to Italy in 2024, joining Bologna after a successful loan spell.

Genoa currently have two Norwegians playing for them including holding midfielder Morten Thorsby who enjoyed a loan spell at the club during the 2023-24 season before the deal was made permanent.

He is joined in midfield by Emil Bohinen who is the son of former Norway international and Nottingham Forest, Blackburn, and Derby midfielder Lars. Bohinen was linked with a move to England with Leeds, Sheffield United, and Brighton interested, but he moved to CSKA Moscow before heading to Salernitana and Genoa.

Ola Solbakken currently plays on loan at Empoli from Roma, while Noway international right-back Marcus Pedersen is currently on loan at Torino from Feyenoord.

Scandinavian football is well represented around the world, and its history of providing top talent to Italy looks set to continue for the foreseeable future.

Serie A 2024-25 Season: Looking into the Past to Predict the Future https://football-italia.net/serie-a-2024-25-looking-past-predict-future/ Mon, 16 Sep 2024 11:24:26 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=832507

Italian football has always been something special. Sometimes for the quality of football being played and the absolute legends in its teams’ ranks, and other times for controversies and lack of success. Serie A has seen it all. However, in the past few seasons, it has seen a sort of revival which is a good thing for European football. The sport is better when Italian teams carry their weight and they have been doing exactly that lately.

Italy’s premier football league has been a stage of intense drama, tactical evolution, and remarkable performances over the past few seasons. Since the 2019-2020 campaign, Serie A has witnessed significant shifts in power dynamics, extraordinary individual talents, and a resurgence of Italian football both domestically and on the European fronts of UEFA Champions, Europa, and Conference leagues.

In this article, we delve deep into the recent history of Serie A and focus on Juventus, Milan, Inter, Roma, Napoli, and Atalanta. We do this to predict the outcome of the ongoing 2024-2025 season so that the fans and bettors can know what to expect. Wagering on an online sports betting platform like Stake.com is better and more efficient when you have the proper knowledge and good predictions on your side.

Juventus

Juventus, the absolute juggernaut of Italian football, dominated Serie A with an unprecedented run of nine consecutive titles. Nothing like this has been seen in Italian football before them. However, it had to end at some point and it did in the 2020-2021 season. Under the management of Antonio Conte, Massimiliano Allegri and ultimately Maurizio Sarri, the club continued to assert its dominance but faced increasing competition and challenges both domestically and in Europe. Let us take a look at their recent history.

2019-2020

Juventus secured their ninth consecutive Serie A title with a narrow lead over Inter. The squad was led by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as Paulo Dybala and Matthijs de Ligt. The team showcased their attacking prowess but struggled in the Champions League where they were eliminated by Olympique Lyonnais in the Round of 16, a big disappointment at the time. However, they managed to win the 9th consecutive Scudetto that season. From the following season, there was a true shift of balance as the Bianconeri struggled with internal and external pressures.

2020-2021

The following season marked a significant turning point. They saw their streak of dominance come to a sudden close as Inter got over the bump and clinched the title. Juventus was fourth, a stark contrast to their previous years of supremacy and an obvious show of the shifting winds. Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala remained vital players, but consistency was non-existent. Their UCL campaign also faltered after another crushing Round of 16 exit against FC Porto. They also lost the Coppa Italia final to Inter.

2021/2022

Then came a period of transition for Juventus. New faces came to the ranks of the Old Lady, mainly the promising Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, as well as Manuel Locatelli. Despite their best efforts, Juventus again finished in fourth place in Serie A with yet another Round of 16 exit in the Champions League. This time, it was at the hands of Villarreal. On that season, Milan won their first Serie A title in a dacade.

2022/2023

Juventus continued its search for stability and a new identity, but despite adding experienced players like the reliable Argentine Angel Di Maria, their performance remained rather inconsistent. A new low came with a seventh-place finish after a point deduction in the league and Napoli won the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years. Juventus’ Champions League campaign was a true disaster as they were knocked out of a group with PSG, Maccabi Haifa and Benfica. They reached the Europa League semifinal, but they were eliminated by Sevilla.

2023-2024

Last season was in the midst of a rebuilding phase. It was a mix of experienced players and new talent as the team aimed to reestablish itself at the top of Italian football. Their performance in Serie A and Europe was better as they finished third behind Milan and the champion Inter. They had 71 points and a goal difference of 23 with 54 for and 32 against. The highlight was their win in the Coppa Italia final against Atalanta, their record-extending 15th title, resulting in a title season and good indication for this year.

Milan

Milan, once a dominant force in European football and a nightmare opponent for any other team, has experienced a remarkable resurgence in recent years. It culminated in a return to Serie A glory as well as some quality results in Europe. Still, they have some way to go if they mean to catch up to their fellow Milanese squad, Inter.

2019-2020

Milan finished in sixth place, a reflection of the club’s struggles to regain its former glory. The team was led by the legendary like Zlatan Ibrahimović, with Rafael Leao, and Theo Hernández following his lead. Some promise was shown but the team lacked the consistency needed to challenge for the title. Their European campaign saw them reach the Round of 32 in the UEFA Europa League, losing to Manchester United.

2020-2021

This season marked a significant turnaround for the team under the management of Stefano Pioli. They finished second, a considerable improvement, only narrowly missing out on the title by two points to Inter. Key players such as Zlatan Ibrahimović and Franck Kessié played crucial roles and showed a great balance of attacking defending. Sadly though, their Europa League campaign was again cut short, this time in the Round of 16 where they were again defeated by Man Utd.

2021-2022

Finally, Milan’s resurgence culminated in a long-awaited Serie A title, their first since the 2010-2011 season and 19th overall. The leading players were Rafael Leao, Sandro Tonali, and Olivier Giroud, a well-oiled blend of youth and experience that clinched the Scudetto. In the Champions League, they were eliminated in the group stage against Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Porto.

2022-2023

Milan attempted to repeat and was eager to attack all three trophies that season. However, it was a trophy-less season as they finished fourth in Serie A behind a surprise pair of teams in the first two places, the runner-ups Lazio and the champions Napoli. Inter was third. The team continued to perform well, with standout performances from the usual Leao and Theo, plus Brahim Diaz. However, it was one of those underdog seasons when certain teams simply played way beyond their usual standard. Their Champions League journey was of moderate success as they reached the semifinals but were eliminated by city rivals Inter.

2023-2024

Last season was successful, but not as successful as the team wanted it to be. Simply put, Inter was just too good not to win it all. Milan came second with 75 points to Inter’s incredible tally of 94.  Rafael Leao had highs and lows, the trophies eluded them in the end. They finished third in their Champions League group and were relegated to the Europa League. There, they were eliminated by Roma in the quarter-finals. Paulo Fonseca took over the managerial duties from Pioli, who stepped down after the season.

Inter

If there was ever a team to take over the reins from Juventus as the near undisputed king of Italian football, it had to be Internazionale. After a period of relative underachievement and stagnation, the Milanese team reasserted their dominance and are still going strong. By most calculations and predictions, they are the favourites to win the Scudetto this season. If you enjoy online sports betting, you may want to take this into account.

2019-2020

Under the management of Antonio Conte, Inter finished second in Serie A behind Juventus who won by a single point, 83 to 82. It was a gut punch but a sign of the things to come. They showed significant improvement and competitiveness and everyone was ready for a new string of successes. The starting eleven featured great players like Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martínez, and Christian Eriksen. Their second chance for a title also ended in disappointment. In the UEFA Europa League final, they were defeated by Sevilla.

2020-2021

After coming second the previous year, it was Inter’s time to shine. They finally clinched the Serie A title, ending Juventus’ nine-year reign and winning their 18th, equaling their biggest rivals and neighbours Milan. Guided by the genius of Conte, the squad displayed a formidable combination of tactical discipline and attacking flair. Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martínez were instrumental in the title-winning campaign as they played some of the best football of their careers. In the UEFA Champions League, they finished last in Group B with only one win, three draws, and two losses.

2021-2022

The following season, the script was flipped, and it was Milan who won the title, with Inter finishing second. Lautaro Martínez continued to carry the team, this time with the help of Edin Džeko. The players continued to perform at a high level, only losing the domestic title by two points. This season was not a complete failure though, far from it. Inter managed to win their 8th Coppa Italia, beating Juventus in the final. The UCL season this year was unsuccessful as Inter was defeated by the eventual runner-up, Liverpool, in the round of 16.

2022-2023

Sadly, the next time around, Inter fell in form compared to the previous few seasons. Romelu Lukaku, Marcelo Brozović and their teammates could not match the dominance of Napoli that season. They finished third behind the runner-up Lazio. Still, they defended their Coppa Italia title with a win over Fiorentina and their 9th title. In addition, their Champions League campaign ended in the Final, where they were narrowly defeated by the nightmarish squad of Manchester City.

2023-2024

Inter’s last season saw them conquer the Scudetto like never before, winning 29 games, drawing 7, and only losing 2. They scored 89 goals and only allowed 22. They won 94 points and were 19 points clear of the runner-up Milan. Lautaro Martínez was brilliant, with the young Marcus Thuram making significant contributions to the 20th title in the club’s history. Sadly for the Nerazzurri, this was their lone title in a very dominant season. They did not manage to win the Cup and were eliminated by Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 of the UCL.

The Underdogs (Roma, Napoli, Atalanta)

Roma has been on a very long journey of rebuilding and seeking success. In 2020-2021, under Paulo Fonseca, they came in seventh. In the following season, in the 2021-22 campaign, they won the UEFA Europa Conference League under none other than Jose Mourinho, their first European title. In Serie A, they finished sixth, then again in 2022-23. Last season was their third number 6 place in a row.

In Europe, they were eliminated in the semi-finals in 2020-21 by Manchester United, lost the Final against Sevilla in 2022-23, and in the semi-finals against Bayer Leverkusen in 2023-24. Through it all, they were led by players like Tammy Abraham, and Paulo Dybala. Roma has achieved more success on the European stage than in domestic competitions, a trait that is not so rare in Top 5 leagues by teams consistently finishing around the sixth place.

Similar to Roma, Napoli has experienced a resurgence in recent years, with one of their best seasons in history coming in 2022-23. They won Serie A with an amazing total of 90 points, 16 clear of Lazio, led by Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Giovanni Di Lorenzo. It was their first title since Diego Maradona was with the team in 1989-90. Their previous trophy was the Coppa Italia in 2019-2020.

However, they followed their title-winning season with an extremely disappointing tenth place in 2023-24. In the UEFA Champions League, they were eliminated in the quarter-finals against Milan in 2022-23 and by Barcelona in the round of 16 last season.

Last but not least, Atalanta has been a revelation in Serie A. They emerged as a competitive force over the past few seasons, finishing fourth, fifth, eighth, and third in the last four seasons. They have had some success in Europe too. In the Champions League, they reached the round of 16 in 2020-21 and were eliminated by Real Madrid.

Their Europa League campaigns were more fruitful, however. First, they reached the quarter-finals in 2021-22, losing to RB Leipzig. Then, last season, they went all the way to the finals where they managed to ruin the invincible season of Bayer Leverkusen with a magnificent 3-0 win. It was a title for the ages and their first-ever European trophy. They were promoted and are playing UCL football once again in 2024-25.

The Verdict

By most accounts, it is going to be another unforgettable season in Italy. There are plenty of games to bet on when Italian teams are concerned, now more than ever due to the new formats of all three UEFA club competitions. Inter is the favourite to win the Calcio, followed by Juventus and Napoli. Make sure to place some bets on the Italians in Europe, too, as they are eager to continue their final appearances and titles this season.

Here are the Best Football Teams:

  • Inter are favorites to win the Serie A trophy. They made significant reinforcements after winning the 20th title in history last season. With a solid defence and a midfield capable of controlling the game, Inter have the ingredients needed to reclaim the title.
  • Milan, last season’s runners-up, signed at least one reinforcement for every department of the pitch. They have a new striker, Alvaro Morata, a new centre-back, Strahinja Pavlović and a new central midfielder, Youssouf Fofana. The start was slow with two points in the opening three games, but the Rossoneri remain among the favourites.
  • Juventus, the queen of the transfer window. Cristiano Giuntoli turned the team upside down and picked a new coach, Thiago Motta, after Max Allegri won the Coppa Italia last season. Shirt Sponsorships in Serie A: Nice Mix of Various Organisations https://football-italia.net/shirt-sponsorships-serie-a-mix-organisations/ Tue, 27 Aug 2024 12:54:06 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=827307

Football is the most followed sport globally, which makes it a perfect opportunity for companies to promote their brand through sponsorships. Serie A clubs attract many sponsors, including shirt sponsors and shoes. Shirt sponsorships can be an important boost for club budgets.

Shirts of top Serie A clubs sell well all over the world. A simple logo on the shirt gets a lot of exposure and might have a huge marketing value. This article will highlight shirt sponsorships in some of the biggest Serie A clubs.

Juventus and Save the Children

The collaboration between Juventus and Save the Children started in 2018. Just recently, Juventus displayed the Save the Children logo on their shirts for the Serie A opener. The focus of this collaboration has been growth and education for younger generations. Save the Children is an organisation that was founded a century ago to fight for children at risk and guarantee them a future.

Juventus, on their part, are determined to combat educational inequalities and offer sporting and social support to younger generations. The two organizations have collaborated on many projects. For instance, Juventus supported and helped redevelop Save the Children’s Punto Luce in Turin. This educational centre was opened in 2021 and has helped over 500 children and 200 mothers.

Milan and Emirates

Emirates, one of the biggest airlines globally, has sponsored Milan since 2007. However, the prestigious shirt sponsorship did not come into play until the 2010-11 season. Emirates is Milan’s Principal Partner and Official Airline Partner. The “Fly Better” logo is featured on the men’s first team shirts. The logo is also on youth jerseys and all of Milan’s academies globally.

The partnership also provides Milan with signature Emirates branding on San Siro Stadium. Emirates branding has been visible on Milan’s shirts in more than 590 official matches. Emirates sponsorship is a testament to its commitment to the local community. It also exhibits its shared passion for sports and now supports other sports and tournaments like the Rugby World Cup, UAE Team Emirates and the ATP Tour.

Napoli and MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises has been partnering with Napoli since 2011. However, it was a secondary shirt sponsor up until 2023. In July 2023, the MSC Cruises partnership deal was elevated, and its logo moved from the lower chest area to the upper chest of Napoli’s first-team shirts.

The partnership has been evolving, and the ‘Everywhere Jersey’, a limited-edition jersey, was introduced in early 2024. This jersey shows a stylish map of where MSC Cruises ships dock: Dubai, Copenhagen and Miami.

Genoa CFC and Cepsa

Genoa Cricket and Football Club (Genoa CFC) has partnered with Cepsa, a Spanish energy giant, as their sleeve sponsor for the 2024-25 Serie A season. Cepsa seeks to gain from the hospitality and corporate advertising opportunities such a partnership provides.

Cepsa has been in the energy industry for more than nine decades and is now focusing on green energy. Genoa, on the other hand, returned to Serie A last season and had a good run, finishing 11th.

How Does It Look for The Other Top Leagues?

While gambling brands on shirts are very common in the Premier League, the mix in Serie A is much nicer. This might be connected with the fact that the UK is much more into online gambling. It would not surprise anyone to see a person next to you in a stadium placing bets on their mobile during the match or even playing Sweet Bonanza slot on casinodays.com. Furthermore, the Premier League is popular globally, explaining why many international brands are interested in getting their brand on the top club shirts.

In Italy, however, the audience is still more conservative and responsible. Hence, sponsorships are seen as an important part of the brand. Attracting sponsors from industries like gambling doesn’t seem like a popular thing to do for clubs that care about the feedback from their fans.

Serie A Sponsors Are As Diverse As It Gets

Serie A is one of the most competitive leagues in the world, which explains why a range of sponsors work with Italian teams. The diversity of sponsors shows how welcoming the Italian football clubs are. Serie A clubs can work with non-governmental organizations, energy sector players, airlines, and cruise lines.

Juventus Transfer Market Strategy for 2024 https://football-italia.net/juventus-transfer-market-strategy-for-2024/ Mon, 29 Jul 2024 09:49:17 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=821603

Juventus have always been a key player in the transfer market as one of the most prominent Italian football clubs. Each season, the strategies for acquiring and releasing players have impacted the team’s performance and alignment with long-term goals.

Understanding Juventus’ approach to the transfer market in 2024 gives insights into how the club plan to remain competitive in Serie A and European competitions.

Focus on Youth and Longevity

One of the crucial aspects of Juventus’ transfer strategy for 2024 has been the emphasis on youth.

Recognizing the need for a sustainable squad capable of competing at the highest levels for years to come, Juventus have targeted promising young talents across Europe and the world. Players under the age of 23 have been particularly attractive to the club, aligning with a vision to build a core group that can grow and succeed together.

Moreover, Juventus’ move towards using various digital platforms for data analysis in their recruitment strategy helps them find hidden talent. These players might not be well-known or expensive, but they have great potential to strengthen the team significantly. By relying on detailed statistics and performance data, Juventus can identify these underrated players more efficiently.

This approach also appeals to fans who value long-term commitment to player development and the excitement of watching young stars flourish.

If you haven’t watched the latest matches in which these young players showcased their skills and you’re having trouble accessing them online due to geographical restrictions, you can easily solve the issue. One option is to use a VPN for PC, a tool that masks your IP address and enables you to access online content without geographical limitations. Additionally, it reduces buffering, so it’s a valuable tool for all football fans.

Finally, this strategy not only involves scouting for young prospects but also integrating them into the first team, where they can develop under the guidance of seasoned veterans. By doing so, Juventus ensure a smooth transition as older players phase out of the team, maintaining a balance between experience and youthful strength.

Economic Factors Influencing Transfer Decisions

In recent years, the economics of football has undergone dramatic changes, affecting the strategies of top clubs like Juventus in the transfer market. Economic pressures heightened by global events, such as economic downturns and the COVID pandemic, have tightened budgets and changed spending behaviours across the sport. As a result, Juventus have strategically moved towards a more sustainable model of team building focusing on their second team – called NextGen – as well.

A few players promoted from this team, such as Radu Dragusin, Matias Soulé, and Dean Huijsen, have been sold, while others, like Nicolò Fagioli, Kenan Yildiz, and Fabio Miretti, are part of the first team.

In order to remain sustainable and instead of making big-money signings, Juventus have increasingly favoured signing players on loan with options to buy. This approach allows the club to evaluate a player’s fit with the team before committing significant financial resources.

Conclusion

Juventus’ transfer market strategy for 2024 reflects a mixture of economic prudence and a forward-thinking approach to team building.

As the club manoeuvres through the complexities of the modern football world, its strategic decisions in the transfer market will be crucial in shaping the future of this acclaimed team. Fans and analysts will be watching closely, anticipating how these moves will translate into results in both domestic and European leagues.

Who are the favorites to win the 2024-25 Serie A Title? https://football-italia.net/who-are-favourites-for-2024-25-serie-a-title/ Tue, 23 Jul 2024 11:35:25 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=820886

As we gear up for another thrilling Serie A season, the anticipation among football fans is palpable. With plenty of business going on this summer, the battle for supremacy in Italy promises to be one of the most intense in recent years as the top teams.

In this article, we will analyze the top contenders for the 2024-25 Serie A title, considering their squad strength, recent performances, key players, and tactical setups. We will also take a look at the latest betting odds offered by american betting sites to provide a comprehensive overview of each team’s chances.

Inter

Inter, the defending champions, are the favourites to win the 2024-25 Serie A title. Last season, the Nerazzurri showcased their strength by clinching the Scudetto with five games to spare and losing only two games in the league, earning a much coveted second star.

Key players like Lautaro Martínez, who scored an impressive 21 goals last season, and vice-captain Nicolò Barella will be crucial to their upcoming campaign, while the addition of new signings such as Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zieliński further strengthens their squad.

Under the tactical guidance of Simone Inzaghi, Inter’s balanced approach in both defense and attack makes them a formidable force. Inzaghi’s ability to rotate the squad effectively and maintain high-performance levels across competitions will be vital.

However, it is worth mentioning that no team has managed to retain their title since Juventus lost their streak of nine consecutive seasons in 2019/20.

Juventus

Juventus, determined to reclaim their dominance, are always in the mix for the title. Despite not winning the league for the past few seasons, they have made significant squad improvements this time around.

The club added Khéphren Thuram and Douglas Luiz to their midfield, enhancing both their defensive solidity and creative options. They also got Juan Cabal to strengthen their defence and the best Serie A goalkeeper from the previous campaign, Michele Di Gregorio.

Thiago Motta has taken over as head coach, bringing fresh tactical insights and a focus on possession-based football. His approach aims to blend Juventus’ traditional defensive strengths with more dynamic attacking plays. Motta’s ability to nurture young talent while leveraging the experience of seasoned players will be critical for Juventus this season.

Milan

Last season’s runners-up, Milan, are once again among the favourites to take the title – but there is a feeling they will need to bolster their squad during the summer if they are to get the job done.

With the appointment of Paulo Fonseca as the new head coach, the team is looking to bridge the gap between them and their bitter rivals Inter, looking to reclaim the title they lost last season.

Rafael Leão, who was instrumental with 15 goals and 8 assists last season, and both he and Theo Hernandez are expected to be crucial to Milan’s campaign. Defensively, the team must regain solidity with players like Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw and the possible new signing Strahinja Pavlović.

Milan’s tactical setup under Fonseca is likely to focus on high-pressing and quick transitions, utilizing the pace and creativity of their forward line. The team’s depth and quality across all positions make them strong contenders for the title.

Napoli

Napoli is gearing up for the 2024-25 Serie A season with a fresh perspective and renewed ambitions after a highly disappointing 202-24 campaign in which they finished 10th in the league.

Despite last season’s underperformance, Napoli remains a club with significant potential and is eager to re-establish themselves as a top contender, especially now that Antonio Conte has taken the helm. Known for his tactical acumen and ability to inspire teams, Conte’s leadership could be pivotal in turning Napoli’s fortunes around.

While there’s plenty of time left in the summer, Napoli have already strengthened their squad with notable signings such as Leonardo Spinazzola from Roma and Alessandro Buongiorno from Torino, who will add depth and quality to their defensive and midfield lines. However, they have also lost some key players, mainly midfield maestro Piotr Zieliński, who has joined reigning champions Inter on a free transfer.

One of the critical factors for Napoli will be their consistency, especially in matches against top-tier teams like Inter, Juventus, and Milan. Their ability to secure points in these high-stakes encounters will significantly influence their position in the title race.

Atalanta

Atalanta are emerging as a dark horse for the 2024-25 Serie A title, following a remarkable previous season that saw them earn a Champions League placement and win the Europa League.

Known for their dynamic and attacking style of play, Atalanta, under the seasoned management of Gian Piero Gasperini, remain a formidable team in the Italian top flight.

Gasp’s ability to develop young talent and deploy a high-pressing, attack-oriented strategy has made Atalanta one of the most exciting teams to watch in Serie A. The coach’s focus on fluidity and versatility ensures that Atalanta can adapt to various opponents and situations, making them a tough contender for any team.

Atalanta’s main challenge will be maintaining consistency throughout the season, especially with their participation in multiple competitions, including the Champions League and the Coppa Italia. Depth and rotation will be crucial to managing player fatigue and injuries.

How Sandro Tonali Can Play A Vital Role In Newcastle United’s 2024/25 Season https://football-italia.net/how-sandro-tonali-play-vital-role-newcastle/ Wed, 17 Jul 2024 10:16:34 +0000 https://football-italia.net/?p=819827

Sandro Tonali still has a lot to prove in English football. The 24-year-old Italian featured in just eight Premier League games for his side Newcastle United, after making a €70m move from Milan in the summer of 2023, before his season was cut short by a 10-month ban for illegal betting offences.

An additional two-month ban means the Azzurri star will miss the beginning of The Magpies’ 2024/25 campaign, becoming available for selection when Tottenham Hotspur visit St James’ Park in late August.

With his ban coming into effect on 26 October 2023, Tonali witnessed his teammates endure a difficult winter as they exited the Champions League and League Cup and struggled for form in the Premier League.

Things did improve in the latter part of the season, with Eddie Howe’s men finishing a respectable 7th, and only missing out on a European spot after Manchester United’s surprise win over rivals Machester City in the FA Cup final.

According to Bet442, Newcastle fans are hopeful that Tonali will live up to his reputation as one of the best young midfielders in Europe during the upcoming campaign.

Despite the ban, which left manager Howe with even fewer options during an injury-hit season, Tonali remains a popular figure on Tyneside. His name has been sung consistently on the terraces since his arrival and he will now want to repay the loyalty shown by the club’s supporters.

It is expected that Tonali’s technical qualities and ability to retain possession will benefit Newcastle greatly, particularly away from home, where they struggled last season. One silver lining during his ban from football is that Tonali has still been allowed to train under Howe, a manager renowned for improving his players.

Tonali introduced himself to the Premier League with a debut goal and swashbuckling display against Aston Villa in a 5-1 victory. His form then dipped before the ban was announced but the Toon Army are optimistic Tonali can re-ignite his career next season.
