David De Gea was the Fiorentina hero in a 2-1 win over Milan on Sunday as the ex-Manchester United keeper saved two penalty kicks helping the Tuscans seal a crucial victory.

It will be a night of celebrations in Florence as Fiorentina beat Milan 2-1 at the Stadio Franchi in a crazy match that included three penalty kicks, none of which were scored.

Fiorentina keeper De Gea saved two, one from Theo Hernandez in the first half and another from Tammy Abraham in the second.

On the other hand, Mike Maignan frustrated Italy international Moise Kean in front of Azzurri CT Luciano Spalletti.

Fiorentina vs Milan – player ratings

Fiorentina: De Gea 9;  Dodo 6, Comuzzo 6, Ranieri 6.5, Gosens 6.5.; Adli 7 (77′ Kouame 5.5), Bove 6, Cataldi 6 (67′ Richardson 6); Colpani 6.5, Gudmundsson 7 (77′ Biraghi 6); Kean 6. Coach: Palladino 6.5.

Best Fiorentina player: De Gea 9 – Fiorentina’s best game of the season was somehow inspired by their goalkeeper, who pulled off three superb saves, including two to deny the Diavoli from the spot. Florence is a city of art and status. After tonight, he may deserve one as well.

Lowest Fiorentina rating: Kouame 5.5 – He was only involved for barely 20 minutes, but he didn’t do enough to hold the ball up front and ease pressure on the defence.

Coach: Palladino 6.5 – The best Fiorentina performance so far this season. He once again picked a four-man defence, leaving Cristiano Biraghi on the bench. Fiorentina were aggressive all over the pitch, even if they needed massive help from De Gea to take all three points. The Viola coach was sent off at minute 85 and continued watching the game from the stands.

Milan: Maignan 7; Emerson Royal 5.5, Tomori 5, Gabbia 5, Theo Hernandez 4.5; Pulisic 7 (82′ Chukwueze N/A), Fofana 5.5, Reijnders 6, Leao 5 (72′ Okafor N/A); Morata 5, Abraham 4.5. Coach: Fonseca 5.

Best Milan player: Pulisic 7 – The American star scored his fifth Serie A goal this season. Best Rossoneri player in the game and in the current campaign. He deserves more from some of his teammates.

Lowest Milan rating: Theo Hernandez 4.5 – It’s not only about the penalty kick he missed in the first half. The Frenchman was sloppy and often too slow against Fiorentina strikers and wingers.

Milan coach: Fonseca 5 – Many players are exhausted. The lack of rotations is not helping the team. Morata and Abraham worked well against Inter, but the Spaniard probably needs to play closer to the goal in some games. He’s not an attacking midfielder. Not the best way to enter the October break.

  1. One penalty missed, one penalty caused, red card with game over. 9 players worse than him?
