A Lautaro Martinez brace inspired Inter’s 3-2 win over Udinese, while Italy international Lorenzo Lucca kept the Bianconeri’s hopes alive in the second half.

Inter reacted to last week’s loss against Milan with a 3-2 win over Udinese at the Bluenergy Stadium on Saturday.

The Nerazzurri’s victory was inspired by Lautaro Martinez’s first goals of the season.

The Argentinean opened his personal account in the first half, just a few seconds before the break, and netted the second one two minutes into the second half.

He was the undisputed Man of The Match in Udine, even if Davide Frattesi was also convincing for the Nerazzurri, not only for the opening goal scored after barely one minute in the first half.

On the other hand, Inter’s defence was pretty disappointing, and they conceded two goals again. The less-beaten defence in Serie A in 2023-24, Inter have already conceded seven times in the opening six games of the current campaign.

Udinese 2-3 Inter – player ratings

Udinese (3-5-2): Okoye 5; Kabasele 6, Bijol 5, Touré 4; Ehizibue 5.5, Lovric 5.5 (58’ Ekkelenkamp 5), Karlstrom 5.5 (74’ Atta 6), Zarraga 5.5, Zemura 6.5; Thauvin 5.5 (74’ Brenner 6.5), Davis 5.5 (59’ Lucca 7). Coach: Runjaic 5.5.

Udinese’s best player – Lucca 7: Introduced as a substitute from the bench, the Italy international scored his third goal in six Serie A appearances this season, the 5th in eight games across all competitions. It’s not only about headers. This time, Lucca won a duel before entering Inter’s box and beating Yann Sommer with a precise finish.

Udinese’s lowest rating – Touré 4: Lautaro was on fire today, but Touré got off on the wrong foot by not reading Frattesi’s movement after just one minute, leading to Inter’s early opener. Physically imposing, Touré has the potential to do more than this.

Coach Runjaic 5.5: It’s all about balance. Udinese still lack it, but they never give up. A brave performance didn’t even produce one point. It wouldn’t have been entirely deserved, but this season’s early signs are promising.

Inter (3-5-2): Sommer 6; Bisseck 5, Acerbi 6, Bastoni 5.5 (75’ De Vrij 5.5), Darmian 6, Frattesi 7 (86’ Zielinski N/A), Calhanoglu 5.5, Mkhitaryan 6, Dimarco 7 (64’ Carlos Augusto 6); Thuram 6.5 (75’ Taremi 6), Lautaro Martinez 8 (86’ Correa N/A). Coach: Inzaghi 6.

Inter’s best player – Lautaro Martinez 8: Look who’s back. Everyone knew it was only a matter of time, and his brace was crucial for the Nerazzurri, who needed to bounce back after a disappointing loss against Milan last week. Inzaghi and Inter hope it’s just the beginning.

Inter’s lowest rating – Bisseck 5: Beaten by Christian Kabasele for Udinese’s opener in the first half, the German defender reacted slowly to many Bianconeri attacks.

Coach – Inzaghi 6: He completed the job in Udine, but Inter have conceded in every away Serie A game this term. This is the biggest concern now that Lautaro’s name is back on the scoresheet. Only 22 goals conceded in 2022-23. This season, Sommer has already picked up the ball from his net seven times in six league games.
