Watch Alessio Romagnoli’s tackle against Juventus, which cost him a straight red card in the first half at the Allianz Stadium.

The Italian defender was given his marching orders at minute 24 on Saturday as his tackle stopped Pierre Kalulu’s run just before the France defender entered the box.

Referee Juan Luca Sacchi initially didn’t even give a free kick to Juventus but was then urged to the pitchside monitor to review the incident.

It was a clear goal-scoring opportunity, so Romagnoli received a straight red card after the VAR check and Juventus got a free kick that Dusan Vlahovic sent over the crossbar.
