Lecce have sacked their coach, Luca Gotti, after a 1-1 home draw against Empoli.
Serie A strugglers Lecce confirmed Gotti’s sacking with a brief official statement on Saturday morning.
“Lecce announce to have relieved coach Luca Gotti of his duties,” the Giallorossi said.
“We thank Gotti for the professional job done these months, carried forward with commitment and dedication, and we wish him the best for the future.”
Official: Lecce sack coach Gotti
Gotti, a former Maurizio Sarri assistant at Chelsea in the 2018-19 campaign, had been hired by Lecce in March 2024 to replace Roberto D’Aversa.
Ironically, the latter, now in charge of Empoli, held Gotti’s Lecce to a 1-1 draw at the Via Del Mare on Friday, paving the way for the 57-year-old’s sacking.
Lecce sit 18th in the Serie A table with just nine points in 12 matches.
They have the less prolific attack, with just five goals scored and one of the weakest defences, having conceded 21 goals.
WOW. What a woeful decision. Lecce did everything to win in the 2nd half. Created so many chances. The team was still clearly playing for him.
