Travelling Back in Time

Newsletter

Hey friends,

This week I listened to the latest episode of The Tim Ferriss Show: The Lost Presentation That Launched the 4-Hour Work Week.

It’s a recording of a 2007 presentation that Tim gave in SXSW in 2007, where he lays out the principles behind The 4-Hour Work Week. This was back when he was a complete unknown, a month before he actually published the book and went on to be mega-successful.

Tim’s ideas from The Four-Hour Work Week are so mainstream nowadays that entrepreneurs and productivity nerds like me take them for granted. Stuff like:

But it was cool to hear Tim explain them in a down-to-earth way, and what he said really seemed to resonate with the audience. Going back in time turned out to be super useful, because it reminded me of all these foundational concepts (particularly the 80/20 rule) that I 100% agree with, but don’t consistently apply to my life.

Food for thought: what 20% of your actions are driving 80% of your results? What would happen if you eliminated the trivial many and focused on the vital few?

Have a great week!

Ali xx

❤️ My Favourite Things

📝 Blog Post – How I got wealthy without working too hard by Amaca. Big truth bombs like “making money is procrastinating”. 🤯

🎬 YouTube Video – Colin and Samir’s The Full Story of MrBeast. They go really in-depth on stuff like how MrBeast got started, his finances, things he thinks all creators should know, etc.

🖋 Pen – LAMY Swift. Hands-down my favourite pen of all time, and it’s just £26. Good weight, feels nice in my hand, and I feel a bit more like a pro when I’m writing with it.

🧳 Luggage – Away Suitcases (this is an affiliate link so if you order, I get $20 off my next order too lol). The best suitcases I’ve ever used. I just bought the Away Large to take to Pakistan, and I’ve had the Away Carry On since 2017. They move really nicely, and are pretty much indestructable (I’ve dragged the Carry On through some pretty rough terrain, including the Sudanese desert).

🎙 Deep Dive Quote –  E9 with Chris Williamson. “If you want to try and be your version of someone else, the best that you can hope for is being second best in the world at it.”

✍️ Quote of the Week

“Everything that needs to be said has already been said. But, since no one was listening, everything must be said again.” – André Gide
